Damn Trendoids
Yeah. So. If I'd known back in August when I first went to walmart and bought the cheapest white yarn and a pair of needles at random to make a scarf for my Chouji costume how trendy knitting was getting, I probably wouldn't have done it. In fact, the recent popularity of knitting (OH EM GEE, JULIA ROBERTS KNITS, I WANT TO BE JUST LIEK HER!!!1!!1one - that was sarcasm, in case you can't tell) is only something I found out about in the past month. And boy howdy, does it piss me off that someone might think I'm another trendy zomboid who started doing it because it's the 'in' thing to do. Cause, haha, no. Quite honestly, I was planning on cosplaying this dude right here:

That's Akamichi Chouji from Naruto. Except I did sexy-no-jutsu version, because I have tits and long hair, both of which are kind of hard to hide. Anyway, as you can see, he's got a long white scarf. And I live in Florida - a place where you are probably not going to find a long white scarf very easily, let alone cheaply. So, I learned to knit. The Chouji scarf was my first finished object, and well, it's got imperfections. Lots of em. It's only a simple garter stitch scarf, but I've felt the urge many times looking at it to rip it all and redo it - but I refrain by reminding me that it was the first thing I knitted, so it's accidental yarnovers here and there have a nostalgic value.
Oh, and if anybody cares the cosplay turned out utterly awesome, especially given that that Megacon was the first time ever that I cosplayed (the Frontiers seek costume turned out great, too, but as that one has no knitting involved and only crocheting to make the tail, it doesn't get a big mention).
I suppose I just happened upon knitting at an unlucky time for people like me who hate to do conformist things. Doesn't mean I'm going to stop knitting, it just means that everytime I see some annoying human-interest style piece in the news about how knitting is popular and 'Oh, look! EVEN FAMOUS PEOPLE DO IT!' I'm going to be giving them the finger. The double deuce if it's especially annoying.
Yesterday was a day of finishing things! That first sock? FINISHED!

And here's what it looks like on my foot, so you can see that it turned out pretty much perfect for what I wanted in terms of leg length (I wanted ankle socks, so I could wear them in summer):

And last but not least, I have the back finished for the 'shapely tee' (god, I hate that name) finished:

...It really looks disappointing in that pic. It looks too wide, and the shoulders too narrow and too small, but I've double checked and it's too the specifications, measurement-wise. I'm hoping that when I put it together and do the finishing - oh, and when I actually attempt to wear it - that this will change.
