Pictures pictures yar.
Okay. So. I think I have a good estimate on how much yarn it'll require to complete Kyoto in my upsized version. The problem is, I really like the Tahki Cotton Classic they reccommend in the pattern. Lots of colors, lots of BRIGHT vibrant colors, and I actually found a color combo I like (I'm thinking a blue-ish purple with light yellow for the sash, and a slightly darker yellow for the sash accents). But the cheapest I've found it is $5.25 a skein, and considering I'm figuring on needing anywhere from 20-24 skeins... Too expensive. Unless they go on sale for about $2 a skein or less, I'm not going to be using that yarn.
But, anyway, as the topic says, 'pictures pictures yar'. First off, I finished the back of Banff this afternoon (finally):

Don't mind the flip-flop and the dog-hair (Genghis is shedding. >_<) and the newspaper (job search bleh) and the Denise needle set. Then, the socks that are eye-searingly orange:

And my pasty-ass legs. I think they're a little bit too short, so next time I make a pair of shorties like this, I'm gonna increase the number of stitches below the cuff a bit. Maybe 15 instead of just 9. I was also hoping to get one pair of socks out of one ball, but no go. I got past the gusset decreases on the second one and had to start on a new ball. Oh well, in any case, I'm going to have a bunch of Schachenmayr micro color left over in several colorways when I get through making socks with it, which I will combine into a super-duper multi-colorway 'crazy as fuck' obnoxiously colored pair of socks.
And you can see part of the Clapotis in the pic, but here's a better one:

This yarn is insanely grape-y. I wish it'd stop curling up so bad though, because it's impossible to try to take a picture and hold down the curling ends at the same time.
In other news, I've (obviously) realised that you can resize pics in Blogger without actually having to resize the pic you upload. That's nice, because I'm inherently lazy.
Today, the siren call of sock yarn is tormenting me. I spent 2 hours this morning looking at Knitpick's various sock yarns, a brand I discovered yesterday - Trekking XXL, Koigu KPPPM (which I've heard mentioned 8 billion times), and Lorna's Laces sock yarn. The last three are way out of my price range - I can't afford to spend around $20 for one pair of socks! But the Knitpicks yarn is really tempting. Actually, they're all really tempting. Pretty colorways is all it takes. Maybe I'll get lucky and find some on eBay - enough to make a pair - for $10? Wouldn't that be nice. Then again, I keep having to remind meself that I've got enough sock yarn right now to make myself somewhere around 10 pairs.
Oh, yeah. And one of the Red Dwarf episodes (Think it's the last one in Season 2) Lister's knitting. Heh.
