Updates and stuff and junk and stuff

I'm bad about posting in this thing. Work + COH + jrock stuff = little time for knitting.
But hey, I finished a sock. See? This colorway is called 'pansies'. I think it was totally misnamed. Pansies are purple and yellow, this sock yarn is purple, yellow, magenta, and black. It's a bit more girly than I like. But oh well, I'll wear em anyway.
Below them are my latest attempts at dying yarn. From left to right - this was a try at pastels. green pink, purple. Well, it turned out okay, but it's not something I would ever wear. Maybe I should ebay it. But I have to come up with names for the colorways because I'm a geek like that. So I'm calling that one Garden, because they're garden-y colors and because I like to make as many veiled jrock references as possible (so yes, 'Garden' as in the old old old Dir en grey song). The second? I shall call this FUBAR. Because I was attempting camouflage colors. Well, it turns out as I think I've mentioned before that black wilton dye turns pink. The last two skeins the camera does not do justice - they are more vibrant in person. The purple-orange-teal one was pure accident, it was the last skein I dyed and I was just throwing leftovers at the yarn, but it turned out rather well. My brain keeps calling it 'gemoetrics', so I guess that's what I'll name it. Finally, my favorite - the one I'm calling Popcicles. You know how you always get popcicles in orange, grape, and cherry (and sometimes, if you're lucky, lime that's more of a sickly yellow color). Well, the chartreuse turned yellow when I nuked it, and the red faded and the purple ran and seperated out the blue, but I still like this yarn anyway. And next to that, all balled up and ready to be turned into socks is the Gekiai Lida yarn. Orange and green, OH RABURII!
Anyway. I swore this weekend I would finish the beret for the Love is Dead Aya cosplay I want to do. DEAR PATTERN WRITERS WHO LIST GRAMS OF YARN YOU NEED TO FINISH THE PROJECT: FUCKING QUIT THAT - Because it makes me ANGRY. I end up with something that looks like this *points to appropriate spot on page* Please ignore the ramen bowl and lightsaber spoon...Yeah, I have a donut. So I have to order more yarn. ASS. Well, I guess this means I should find a pattern for something to make for my granma, since I was planing on making her something since she made me a scarf and a hat. She's always crocheting stuff for everyone, but I don't think anyone ever makes any for her.
And lastly, I have found the yarn for my Sockapal2za pal. She says she likes bright colors and patterns, so I found some rainbowy patterned yarn. I wasn't planning on updating until it came, but I'm still waiting on the mail. I find it kind of amusing that I got a sockpal who's got big feet, like me. Oh well, it just makes it easier for me to make sure they're the right size.
*prods the Aya!Beret* Well, so much for what I had planned tonight.
