So, a few hours after making my last post in which I declared I was gonna lay off the socks, I find Socktoberfest and completely disregard everything I'd just said and sign up. See? I even have a nifty halloween themed button. Let's start with a collection of all my socks - click the pic to see it bigger. That is every pair I've made except for the pair that went to my sockapal2za pal and a pair I made for my granma (the other one, not the same one who's getting the scarf). Well, the black and white sock? That's the leftover from when I was using it as the Mango's cast cover. It's dirty and gross and has a hole in it and I don't know why I haven't thrown it out yet. The most recently finished pair is the grey and teal ones on the top row, second to the right.

Then, let's move along to current socks on the needles, huh? Actually, this picture is already out of date, as I took it last night. From the top, clockwise!

1. The bit of blue just barely started: This is some stuff called Mexico that comes in a patterned colorway - actually, you can see the ball, so why am I telling you this? It's only just started, maybe 5 rows of 1x1 rib on.

2. The green jaquard sock - Well, as of today at work, I finished turning the heel and started on the gusset! I love the colors - finally, a jacquard style print that's in all green - but I'm not so fond of the yarn. It seems to be splitting a lot when I worked on the heel.

3. Still working on that Sockotta sock... slowly... maybe one of these days... I'm really so close to getting ready to doing toe shapping, but I just don't really feel like working on it a whole lot.

4. And I apparently feel even less like working on the layette colorway lorna's laces socks. Probably because not only am I doing them on size 1's, but I'm doing them on metal size 1's. I have decided I do not like them because they hurt the hell out of my left index finger and leave it raw.

5. The Koigu sock. My first one. Actually, this picture is so much out of date that, as you can see in the picture, I finished it. You know, I was iffy on the colors in the skein, but I love how it looks knitted up. I also underestimated the yarn - I heard it's easy to run out of koigu, so I only did 15 rows of rib and then 20 of the leg, but I had enough yarn left over to probably get another 10 rounds on the leg. The texture of koigu is very interesting compared to other sock yarns I've used. It's a lot more 'rough'. Well, not really rough, but I can't think of a better word except 'textured'. It's not as smooth as other sock yarns, but I think that's because it looks to be two-ply, whereas most seem to have 4 in them. Either way, I really like the colors and I may end up buying more koigu mostly for that reason.

Hi Lyme! Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Great socks you have there. The purple Koigu I'm using for my lace socks is P800. I can't get a good photo of it in my apartment, but (a photo of) the colorway is available at Personal Threads.

:)

Not that I'm trying to enable or anything...

Thanks for the compliments... and don't worry about enabling... with sock yarn I've got such weak willpower it doesn't take much to push me into wanting to buy some...
