New mp3 player = Oh yeah.

So, hey, first thing's first, I finished the amorphous black-and-purple lump from my last update:

You know, at the point where he was just a limbless torso with eyes, he was really creeping me out. He's from the same book as the knitted robot pattern, but with minor modifications (different eyes, smaller needles). He came out significantly smaller than the pattern specs because of this - he's probably between 6 and 7 inches tall.

One half of my secretive project is finished:

And I have to say, I'm currently pleased with how it turned out. The second one has been cast on, but I didn't get much knitting on it done, as I'd planned this weekend. I didn't actually get much of anything done, seeing as most of the time was spent playing with this:

Oh-fucking-yeah. See, about 2 weeks ago, my CD mp3 player died at work. Hey, it lasted over 2 years, so I consider that pretty good for something I paid $50 for. This Creative Zen Vision:M cost a hell of a lot more, but oh, the features. It plays mp3s, video files, can store pictures (as you can see, I've already upped a few of my wallpapers to it), take recordings... oh yes. New toy. It also meant I spent literally around 12 hours retagging over 4,000 mp3s in order to upload them. So my wrist is aching... meaning the socks I was working on for Project Spectrum April will not be finished in time.

Oh, what else..? A new header image. I finally got around to making one, I'm so lazy. I was sick of using a base blogger template, so I've been modifying it little by little over the months. I've also added a Dye-o-Rama button to the sidebar. We're supposed to be getting our directions/pals on the 1st, and I've already got sock yarn standing by - 2 skeins of knitpicks dye-your-own from when I ordered quite a lot of it. I'm planning on using wilton dyes again, since I've been successful (for the most part) with them, unless the pal I get wants colors I can't produce with wilton dyes. If that's the case, I'll have to come up with a plan B, but it should be fine because I've got 6 weeks.

Finally, Project Spectrum May mp3s, this time in green!

  • America: Green Monkey - Okay, so there was this period a few years back when I was just obsessive about moneys (right now it's robots and pirates and ninjas). I downloaded nearly any mp3 I could find with 'monkey' in the title as part of this. Extra points for this mp3 because not only was it monkey-related, but it had my favorite color, green, as well.
  • Hyde: Evergreen Dist. version - This man has recorded probably 5 different versions of this song since the original in 2002... and the truth is? I absolutely hate the original, whether in English or Japanese. But this version was on a single he put out last year, and it's a faster tempo and rock-ified... so I discovered I liked it for the first time.
  • SUPERCAR : Greenage - One of their more spacey, navel-gazing songs. Very mellow.
  • Guniw Tools: Green Carnival - Oh, I love Guniw Tools, Full is one of my favorite weirdos. I love the way this song starts out with fuzzy, radio-static elevator music before breaking into the real song.
