Your favorite colors?
Green above all, obviously. I actually seem to like color combinations more than individual colors, beyond that. Such as purple and yellow, or what my mind calls 'metronome colors': black, yellow, shades of grey.

Preferred yarn weight (Fingering, Sport, DK, maybe even Worsted)?
For socks? I guess somewhere between fingering and DK. I'm not overly picky, but I like yarns that will make socks on size 2 or 3 needles - size 1's put holes in my fingers.

Do you prefer solid or multicolored yarn?
Multicolored, all the way. Or stripes or jacquard... I like to use the most basic sock patterns and let the yarn do all the work.

If your buddy is able to do so, would you like a variegated, self-striping, or self-patterning yarn?
Sure.

Would you be interested in a wool blend sock yarn (nylon, tencel, silk, acrylic, alpaca, etc.)?
Well, I love sock yarns that are a wool/cotton blend, because they won't make my feet hot. That's important when you live in Florida. Blends are just fine by me.

Imagine the perfect colorway. What would you name it?
My immediate answer to this, as to all my 'what should I name this' questions, is Bob Dole. Which is not in the least helpful, so. A name would have to come depending on the colorway. I can't imagine just 'one' perfect colorway, I could probably think of several.

What was the biggest appeal to you for joining this dye-along?
Dying yarn, getting dyed yarn, seeing what other people dye up.


General yarn/fiber questions:

Have you dyed yarn/fiber before?
Yeah. First using kool-aid, now with Wilton icing dyes.

If so, what's your favorite dye and method?
Of the two I've used, Wilton. I like handpainting, too. Some day, when I have the money and space to spare, I'd like to try professional acid dyes.

Do you spin?
I have a drop spindle I know the basics of how to use, but no.

Have you knit socks before?
Uh, yeah. Probably 20 pairs in the 1 1/2 years since I started knitting.

Do you use sock yarn for just socks or in other patterns too?
I haven't as of yet, but if the pattern called for it I would.

What are some of your favorite yarns?
For socks? Sockotta. Cervinia Calzetteria. They both wear very well, and as I've said before, I like the cotton content in Sockotta.

What yarn do you totally covet?
I don't covet yarn brands so much as colorways.

Favorite patterns?
Nothing in particular stands out.

Any pattern you would love to make if money and time were no object?
Probably something with insane lace, for the challenge. I like the way lace looks, especially when it's complicated, but I don't generally have the state of mind or time to do it.

Favorite kind of needles (brand, materials, straights or circs, etc)?
Wooden or bamboo dpns for socks, circs for everything else. I almost never use straights. I have a set of Denise interchangeable circulars, they are great.

If you were a specific kind of yarn, which brand and kind of yarn would you be?
Something cheap, durable, and strong, probably. Probably something with a lot of cotton, maybe like kitchen cotton, dyed in an eye-searingly riotous colorway.

Do you have a favorite candy or mail-able snack?
Dude, I'm a fat chick. Duh. I have many of these. Particularily, Happy Cola. Pocky in weird flavors... I don't like strawberry, chocolate's gotten old. Green tea, lemon cheesecake, pumpkin - the weird stuff.

What's your favorite animal?
Robots.

Do you have pets? What are their species/names/ages?
Mango - dog - 7 years
Chiana, Boogersnot, Akuma no Pantsu - girl rats, all nearing 2 1/2 years old (from the same litter)
Usopp - girl rat, about 1 year, 2 months
Jayne and Lister of Smeg - boy rats, both about 6 months old
My roommate also has a dog, Ghengis, and he's... probably around 12 years old?

If you were a color what color would you be?
Oh, easy. Bright lime green.

Describe your favorite shirt (yours or someone else's)..
I have many shirts I like. My Firefly Blue Sun shirt. My Unamerican.com 'Fuck with me and I will saw off your legs' shirt. I want the GOATSE shirt at threadless.com so bad, but it's currently out of print in my size, sigh.

What is your most inspiring image, flower, or object in nature?


Okay, so I'm using this question as an excuse to post a picture of a nearly naked Fumiya. I've been leching over it all day. DJ Fumiya, super-awesome backbone of Rip Slyme. Insert more lecherous thoughts right here. (C'mon! He was at a sauna in Finland, that technically meets 'object in nature' requirement, doesn't it?)
