Oh, there's some pictures

Now that I've actually got some time, pictures!

Stash, reorganized. Or most of it. Left to right, top to bottom: kitchen cotton and worsted wool (lots of Cascade 220, for example), sock yarn / odds and ends - the white plastic bag contains sock ends, acrylics and some mercerized cotton in front of that / more Cascade 220 that needs to be wound into balls, undyed yarn, other yarn and stuff in progress. The green bag in front contains notions, patterns, needles, some books. Up top, the maroon notebook is where I store patterns that aren't being used, and there are a few projects in process as well.

Ebay is dangerous. I fell off the SOS wagon and used one of my exceptions on the above yarn. Lorna's Laces sport in yellowstone, and then 2 skeins of Cherry Tree Hill (Birches and African Grey) as well as an 800yd+ end lot which photographed terribly. It looks far too dark in the picture, as if the majority of the yarn was black which just isn't so. It's got all sorts of shades of orange, red, teal, blue, green, and black in it.

The lonely socks club is down to 3 - and the two on the left ready have the seconds on needles. Once I free up a set of size 2's again, I will cast on for the twin of the sock on the right.

This is what I worked on the most when in St. Louis and on the airplanes to get to and from St. Louis. I think the pattern is from Magnits I was having an urge to do lace, and this worked. The yarn is some knitpicks dye your own sockweight that I dyed several months ago - a colorway I was calling 'Rakuen Baby' after the Rip Slyme song about summer, since the colors are very summery.

Knitting completed this weekend: The socks were made from leftover skeins, done toe-up, alternating colors every 10 rows. Er, the flip-flopping of the last 2 stripes was one of those accidents we'll call a 'design feature' simply because I was too lazy to rip back when I noticed it. Well, the socks are loud and obnoxious anyway, which is how I like things. The pac-man ghost shaped thing is a hat for Dulaan. 2 strands of worsted held together on size 10 1/2 needles, it actually knits up quick and is using up yarn that I had originally bought to buy a blanket that I lost interest in. And then, to use up a bit of my kitchen cotton yarn, yet another dishcloth. I am drowning in the things now, I swear. I'll never run out again, and I have plenty of cotton left to make more!

And, well, the past two months where Project Spectrum is concerned have been a bust for me. I've noticed I really don't have a whole lot of purple yarn, so to make up for it, here's some handspun in purple and green. This was from my Dye-o-rama pal. She sent me 4oz of roving in addition to yarn. This is my first real attempt at spinning anything up with the drop spindle I got last year, and I think it's fairly good for a first attempt. Since taking this picture, I have spun the rest of it up, now I'm just not sure what to knit with it. I don't even have a yardage count on it. Anyway, it stays between worsted and sport weight for the most part, with areas where it gets bulky or sock yarn thin.

I started this entrelac scarf back in May for project spectrum green. Not a whole ton of progress, but I am over 1 skein in, and I love the way the color changes of Noro look in entrelac.

A collection of socks. I have made a lot of pairs, relatively speaking. There are only maybe 6 pairs I've made that aren't in this picture - 4 went to other people, 1 got used as The Mango's cast cover last year when she broke her foot, and then there's the pair I was wearing at the time.

Finally, since I have been so lax in updating lately - it's already the end of July and I didn't even put the purple mp3s up - I'm putting July and August up at once:

July:

Pierrot - Purple Sky
- One of the songs off their first major album, which had a lot of 'sky' themed songs (Mad Sky, Clear Sky, Purple Sky...). Pierrot's sound is rock, yet unique enough in sound to be distinctive.
Shazna - Magenta Story
- Interestingly enough, only a few days after I picked this out to be one of the mp3s for July, Shazna announced they were getting back together after breaking up in 2000. Shazna has always been on the fence between pop and rock.
Merry - Violet Herenchi
- Oh, what the hell. Merry has lots of songs with colors in the title, and this is the first they ever made a video for. It's one of my favorites by them.
Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze

- Because it was obvious!

August:

Fantastic Plastic Machine - Black Dada (Edo-mae Mix feat. Rip Slyme)
- I found this mp3 by accident while looking for Rip Slyme. While I don't know much about Fantastic Plastic Machine, this song is addictive. I love the effects on the vocals.
FLOPPY - Shiro no sakebi -Weiss Schrei- [Dagashi Kashi cover]
- To translate, shiro no sakebi means 'white scream' in Japanese. While I don't like Dagashi Kashi (the vocals grate on me), the FLOPPY version is awesome. FLOPPY is the side-project of the vocalist of metronome (with another guy from a group called Shinjuku Gewalt) in an obscure little genre called 'famicon pop' - music that uses old gaming system noises.
The Stranglers - Golden Brown
- I heard this song on the soundtrack for Snatch, and it got stuck in my head.
Shiina Ringo - Kuroi Orufe

- Off of her covers album Utaite Myori, I believe the original song is in Portuguese and called 'Carnival' or something like that (kuroi = black in Japanese).
