So where have I been
Not a whole lot to say, recently. Really, I assume it's this time of year. The block between Thanksgiving and Valentines is never much fun.
Anyway, knitting. I finished the granma socks on Xmas, and left them at my parents house for my mom to send off to said granma. No picture, but hey, it's only a pair of dark grey 2x2 rib with blue, teal, and brown stripes.
I have started and made some good progress on the modified cozy blanket, though. I increased the number of repeats to the pattern to make it about 32" wide (unblocked) and am just going to knit it longer to make a lap blanket. One miscalculation on my part, though, was the amount of yarn I'd need. So, I picked up 2 skeins more when I was in Tampa, meaning I have 6 of cascade 220 quatro to work with. I'm probably just about through 1 1/2, and at 15" on the blanket. Unfortunately, the picture really does not show the colors well - what looks like a murky grey-green is in reality a sort of forest green color. But it was either get a picture of the color or one where you could see the stitch pattern better... so I went with stitch pattern.
Other than that, I've been working on decreasing the pile (and at the same time, increasing, hah) of second sock syndrome socks. It really got up to 7 before I started finishing socks... well, when you've always got 5 socks on needles, you tend to get antsy.
Berocco has discontinued the Edamame colorway of Zen. This is a good thing because it was the colorway of Zen I was interested in, and I found out it was being discontinued when it showed up on Elann for half price... meaning I grabbed the 11 skeins necessary to make the top I wanted. Unfortunately, the colorways replacing it are ugly.
So, I've put myself on a yarn diet. I am determined not to buy any yarn until March. So far this year, I've been good, but it's only been half a month. My ultimate goal is to use up some of my stash. There's already a noticeable dent - the top shelf of my yarn containment-type device (It's not really a cabinet, as it's the sort of cheap wire box things you buy at target and snap together) is no longer so packed to brimming with yarn that you can't fit any more in.
